Squat 'N' Gobble Redecorates

Comments

Mmmmm crepes and omlettes. . .
But Squat and Gobble is a chain. Given that, I don't think they've done such a bad thing since there old sign was just some unreadable script.

True, it's a local chain, but they could have at least made the storefront a little more attractive! Firewood, Peet's, heck, even Asqew are chains and have nicer signs, IMHO.

Their website still has photos of the old sign for comparison's sake.

I think of Firewood, Peets and especially Asqew as restaurants that see their brand identity as something important. I figure Asqew must have spent a lot of money to make themselves looks so tacky, but in a distinctly Asqew kind of ugly, while Squat and Gobble is still just trying to make there store more noticable.

The new sign makes their store more noticable, of course on the old sign (if you could read the font) you could tell that it was a crepery. Doesn't the new one with it's fall brown and orange colors seem more like it's serves turkey dinners?

But S&G is always jam-packed, so it's not like they needed to do anything drastic, and frankly, the orange stripes are drastic.

I guess I see the "gobble=>turkey" connection, but you are right that it sends out the wrong message. I've always thought that Crepevine (on Church) has a much better crepery name in that respect. Crepevine => grapevine => grapes => wine, European countryside, fresh food .... Suddenly I want a crepe...

ick! hadn't seen that.
