Another Nail in the Castro

Oh, so that's what Mary Ann was talking about. Mary Ann used to work for Max at "All About You" on the corner of 18th and Hartford. Max is quite the character. He has entertained me with many a story about taxi drivers that cruise cute young gay boys. Good times. Mary Ann left well over a year ago, and I wondered what had happened to her. Anyhoo, Mary Ann gives a great mani and pedi. My daughter and I ran into her in the Castro MUNI station on Friday. She told me she was working at the new salon on 17th street. Now I know exactly where to find her. Thanks Ray!
Actually the Superstar Videos used to be related, but they split something like 20 years ago. Of course, it ultimately became moot when the one on 17th St went out of business.
Yeah, good point. If you go back far enough in history they were linked at some point. Do you know what the real story there is? I've heard versions that they were owned by a couple that split up (and they split ownership of the stores) and I've also heard that the owner sold the businesses, but couldn't find a buyer for both. Neither version seems to make a lot of sense, but then, this is the Castro.
The guys who sold the Superstar on 18th that became the one on Castro, was sold a few years ago by a couple that just moved out of the neighborhood. They actually moved out of the country, I think. I remember them telling me how they were related, but I've forgotton. I'll pick the brain of some of the neighbors and see if I can get the scoop.
